The new coronavirus, recently named COVID-19 by the World Health Organization was first encountered in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Health officials have reported thousands of COVID-19 infections in China, with the virus reportedly spreading from person-to-person in many parts of the world.

The complete clinical picture with regards to COVID-19 is still not fully clear. Reported cases have ranged from infected people with little to no signs of illness to people exhibiting severe symptoms, which is why it is pivotal to take necessary precautions to avoid exposure to the virus.
