Marsh & McLennan Companies Once Again on Top in 2018 Global Broker Rankings

Business Insurance and Best’s Review recently published their 2018 rankings of the world’s top insurance brokers – and Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) once again took the top spot on both lists.

In the online profile accompanying its rankings of the World’s 10 Largest Brokers, Business Insurance noted that “steady as she goes” has been the major theme for MMC in recent years and that a 6.1% increase in 2017 brokerage revenue to $14.04 billion kept MMC on top of its 2018 list. The story quotes John Doyle, President and CEO of Marsh, who attributed the firm’s 2017 financial success to “good organic growth in various parts of the world” and “inorganic investments,” including Marsh & McLennan Agency’s acquisition of J. Smith Lanier.

In the online summary of its Top 20 Global Brokers, Best’s Review highlighted MMC's risk and insurance services segment (Marsh and Guy Carpenter) as generating $7.6 billion in revenue in 2017, and highlighted the continued build out of Marsh & McLennan Agency.
