CURRENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Nisala Weerasooriya is a senior vice president and the head of Marsh captive management office in Melville, NY.  He has the overall responsibility to manage and coordinate the client service teams in the New York captive management office.

EXPERIENCE

Nisala has 19 years of experience with Marsh’s Captive Solutions Group and became the head of office in October 2008.  For 14 years, Nisala worked as an account executive leading client service teams, consisting of account managers, account administrators and insurance/claims professionals that manage the operations of pure, group and sponsored captive insurance companies, including a risk retention group.  He joined Marsh’s Bermuda office in 1992 as an account manager responsible for the day-to-day management, accounting, and regulatory compliance and reporting of captives.  Nisala joined the New York captive office in 2004 and immediately prior to that he worked in Marsh’s Vermont office for approximately three years.
Prior to joining Marsh, Nisala was the financial controller for a computer distributor in Bermuda for two years.  Previously he had spent five years with the Bahamas Telecommunications Corporation (two as financial controller), and three years with Deloitte & Touche as an audit supervisor.
